Martin

Something about the howling of a wolf took a man right out of his here and now and left him in a dark forest of the mind, running naked before the pack.

Writing like that can keep you up. Oh yes. The last few hours have been spent in Winterfell, in GRR Martin's world of a Song of Ice and Fire.

That's naked prose at its starkest. I like it.

Hey Man...

I see you are getting hooked on to GRR Martin. Addictive, aint it?

And the best part is the uncertainity... No predictability for Mr. Martin. The hero is as likely to have his head chopped off as is the villian.

Cheers,
D.

my dear mallu fellow, i am almost done with the second book of song of ice and fire and I find it (note the I) way better that WoT. Sure I loved the beginning of Jordan's series, but i think he got lost after the 2nd or third book and started running around in circles.
While in this book, GRR does an excellent job of holding a zillion things together, that you dont notice it at all. its also a very very mature look at war andjazz. heres why - he builds up characters very well, even if they are going to kick the bukcet soon, unlike other story's where we know that the charcter the author devotes time to is invetably going to survive. not so in this case. you get to look at a real war, the true face of it from a variety of view points and as in real life you realzie, no right or wrong, just points of view and circumstances.
